Puppy Health Guarantee & Florida Lemon Law Rights

Every Puppy Era puppy is covered by Florida's pet protection law, Section 828.29 of the Florida Statutes, often called the "puppy lemon law." Here's what it means for you, in plain English.

Before you take your puppy home

  • Your puppy is examined by a Florida-licensed veterinarian within 30 days before the sale.
  • You get a copy of the official certificate of veterinary inspection, which lists every vaccine and dewormer your puppy has had.
  • Puppies can't be sold before they're 8 weeks old.
  • Your puppy is microchipped before going home, as Miami-Dade County requires.
  • You get a written notice of your rights under Florida law.

If your puppy gets sick

If a veterinarian certifies within 30 days of the sale that your puppy was unfit for purchase because of an illness, a contagious disease, or parasites, you're covered.

If a hereditary problem shows up

If a veterinarian certifies within 1 year of the sale that your puppy has a congenital or hereditary condition that harms their health, you're covered. The same year applies if your puppy's breed, sex, or health was misrepresented.

What you can choose

  1. Return your puppy for a full refund.
  2. Exchange your puppy for another of equal value.
  3. Keep your puppy and be reimbursed for reasonable veterinary costs, up to the price you paid.

The law sets steps and deadlines for using these rights, including a written statement from a veterinarian. If you think one applies, contact us right away.

Our additional Health Warranty

At Puppy Era, your puppy's health and well-being are our priority.

In addition to Florida's Pet Lemon Law protections, we offer a limited 30-day warranty against qualifying viral illnesses and a one-year warranty covering qualifying hereditary conditions, subject to our written sales agreement.

Our warranty does not limit or replace any rights provided under Florida Statute 828.29.
